Biography

French violinist Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux combines physical freedom and rhythmic bite with an instinct for colour, moving between earthy intensity and elegance. Her curiosity shapes a repertoire spanning Biber, Beethoven and the concertos of Panufnik, Vasks and Weill. Recent solo debuts include Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and London Mozart Players, with whom she performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto.

“An artist with something of her own to say, and something worth hearing.”

Gramophone

A grand prize winner of the 2021 Young Classical Artists Trust and Concert Artists Guild international auditions in London and New York, she was named one of Classic FM’s 2022 Rising Stars.

An advocate for lesser-known repertoire, Charlotte has performed concertos by Panufnik, Vasks and Joachim, as well as Kurt Weill’s Violin Concerto under Edward Gardner and Bernstein’s Serenade with the Budapest Concerto Orchestra conducted by András Keller. This appetite for discovery also shapes her recital programmes and collaborations.

“Searchlight gleam or delicate whisper: the violinist Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux […] excels at both dynamic extremes.”

The Times

Chamber music is central to her musical life. She performs regularly in the UK and continental Europe, including at Wigmore Hall, Britten Pears Arts, Konzerthaus Berlin and Radio France. Her collaborations have included performances with Alina Ibragimova, Lawrence Power, Sol Gabetta and Bertrand Chamayou at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, and appearances with the 12 Ensemble at the BBC Proms. Festival engagements have taken her to Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and Bendigo Chamber Music Festival. She was Artist-in-Residence at the Thaxted Festival in 2025, where she performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with London Mozart Players.

Charlotte joined the award-winning Chiaroscuro Quartet in 2024, exploring Classical and early Romantic repertoire on gut strings and historical instruments, with international appearances including tours of Europe and Japan. Previously, as first violinist of the Quatuor Confluence, she won First Prize at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in 2021.

Her debut solo album, Ostinata, was released by Champs Hill Records in 2022, bringing together music by Biber, Bartók, Prokofiev, Bacewicz and Ysaÿe. A Schubert album with her duo partner Joseph Havlat followed on Delphian Records in May 2025, interweaving major works for violin and piano with Joseph Havlat’s arrangements of songs. Reviewing the album, The Times praised her “soulful violin” and her skill at “shaping and sustaining long lyrical lines”. A live recording of the complete Mozart violin concertos and Sinfonia Concertante with Mathieu Herzog and Ensemble Appassionato is due in spring 2027.

Committed to inspiring the next generation, Charlotte is an ambassador for the London Music Fund.

Brought up in Montpellier, Charlotte went on to pursue her musical studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Natasha Boyarsky, before completing her Master’s at the Royal College of Music with Alina Ibragimova. In September 2026 she began an Advanced Diploma with Robin Wilson at the Royal Academy of Music, supported by a Bicentenary Scholarship.

She plays a Giovanni Battista Rogeri violin and an Edwin Clement bow, generously loaned by the Swiss Boubo-Music Foundation, and a Tononi violin kindly loaned by Jérôme Akoka.
